'Kadiwa ng Pangulo Para Sa Manggagawa' sells over P200K

ILOILO CITY (PIA) -- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-led Kadiwa ng Pangulo (KNP) Para Sa Manggagawa, one of the highlights of the 121st Labor Day Celebration, has generated a total of Php 215,058 in sales.

The accumuated sales was generated from the activities of the KNP program on April 25, 2023 at the Molo Plaza in Iloilo City and on May 1, 2023, at the Robinson's Mall Iloilo during the Labor Day celebration.

About 30 sellers from the DOLE-6 assisted livelihood projects, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-sponsored Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), and Department of Agriculture (DA)-supported farmer organizations were among the participants of the KNP program.

This marketing event sold products like agri-fishery commodities, fresh fruits and vegetables, some processed foods and bags.

DOLE-6 regional director lawyer Sixto Rodriguez Jr. said that the initiative sought to help farmers sell their produce at a fair price, lead MSMEs to bigger markets and help vulnerable sectors by providing them with more affordable essential goods.

“It is not about what the government can do for us but what we can do to help our fellow workers, especially those who are most vulnerable, reason why we welcome the KNP program that supports our farmers, MSMEs, and other sectors that face the greatest challenges,” he added.

The KNP program provides a venue for farmers, fisherfolk and small business owners  to directly sell their products to a larger market and seeks to make essential goods more affordable and accessible to everyone. (AAL/ELIJSHAH DALIPE/PIA 6)
