DOLE MIMAROPA spearheads series of activities to commemorate 121st Labor Day celebration

CALAPAN CITY, ORIENTAL MINDORO (PIA) – A total of 193 applicants joined the Labor Day Job Fair conducted by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-MIMAROPA in coordination with the Provincial Government of Oriental Mindoro (PGOM) and various agencies, May 1.

Held at CityMall, Calapan City, the activity was part of the celebration of the 121st Labor Day celebration in the country.

A total of 20 corporations and recruitments agencies participated in the said event with an estimated 3,446 job vacancies being offered to the applicants.

Apart from the job fair, DOLE MIMAROPA also handed out grants to different organizations in Oriental Mindoro, of which two were the Samahan ng Mangingisda ng Tacligan (SMT) from San Teodoro and the Barangay Evangelista Farmers Association (BEFA) from Naujan.

SMT received P860,050.00 from DOLE to help them build their Floating Restaurant Project, while BEFA received a total amount of P949,176.00 for itsTractor Rental Project.

An identified 14 beneficiaries from the City of Calapan were also given financial grants amounting to P406,345.00 for their welding and auto repair shop project.

Meanwhile, DOLE MIMAROPA, through DOLE Romblon Provincial Office, granted livelihood assistance amounting to P367,496.00 to Fernando Kabulig Association for the enhancement of their tarpaulin, t-shirt printing, and mug printing services with photocopying machine project.

The Marinduque Provincial Office also provided a total amount of livelihood starter kit assistance amounting to P539,440.00 for selected beneficiaries.

Palawan Provincial Office also conducted a job fair as part of the simultaneous activity for this year’s Labor Day celebration, where 134 applicants participated in the job fair and a total of nine applicants were hired on-the-spot.

Likewise, DOLE MIMAROPA  launched its Kadiwa Market in the Provincial Capitol Complex, Camilmil, Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro in coordination with Provincial Government and the Department of Agriculture. (JJGS/PIA MIMAROPA)
