CAMIGUIN (PIA)--As the influx of tourists increases and travel restrictions ease on the island of Camiguin, Mahinog Municipal Tourism Officer Iris A. Labadan urges locals and visitors to visit Mahinog's eye-catching tourist destinations during the Come Again sa Camiguin radio program, April 27.
The municipality aims to rent out commercial space at the soon-to-be-opened Mahinog Business Center to local and foreign investors looking to kick-start their businesses.
"Isip bago sa tourism office, naa pud ko'y plano nga unta marealize ni siya kining accreditation sa tourism establishments nga mao gyud ni atoang panghingusgan kay para pud ni siya sa atoa, and then maka-provide pud ta'g training sa atong mga frontliners diri sa atong tourism establishments on how to deal with our clients ug mga turista para mas maayo pa gyud atoang pagserbisyo," Labadan said.
(Since I’m new in the tourism office, I have a plan that hopefully we’ll realize that accreditation in tourism establishments should be strengthened since this is also for us, and then we can provide training for our frontliners in our tourism establishments on how to deal with our clients and tourists so we can enhance our services)
The ground floor is rented out monthly for P5,500 and the second level for P4,500. The community also intends to build night cafés and food stands in the surrounding area.
Another tourist attraction is Katunggan Park, which recently opened a restaurant, March 9. It is one of the town's key attractions, and it is open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a live band performing on the 15th and 30th of the month.
Aquatic sports such as kayaking, stand-up paddling, glass bottom viewing, and speedboats are also available in the park.
For mountain sites, the Queobe Eco Park and Training Center, located on the mountainside, also offers a variety of accommodations and campgrounds perfect for camping and sightseeing.
Labadan advises that those who want to rent out the Mahinog Business Center can do so by contacting the Municipal Treasury Office or visiting the Mahinog Tourism Office. (GKND/PIA-10/Camiguin)
