PIA 2 inaugurates new regional office building

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan (PIA) - - Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Region 2 has inaugurated its newly- constructed regional office building located at the Regional Government Center (RGC) in this city. 

No less than Cagayan 3rd District Representative Joseph "Pulsar" Lasam Lara and PIA Director-General Undersecretary Ramon Lee Cualoping III led the ribbon cutting and unveiling of the building's marker, witnessed by two deputy directors-general of PIA, former regional directors of PIA region 2, local media and regional directors of the various regional line agencies in the region. 

Lara said the PIA 2's building worth P25 million is one of the major projects he initiated to be funded as he firmly believes that modern infrastructures are needed to provide better service to the people.

"We also funded other agencies that have already settled in this regional center and there are even more to be established here. This will soon be the best regional center in the country," Lara said. 

On her part, Angely L. Mercado, PIA regional director, expressed her profound gratitude to Rep. Lara for initiating and defending the grant of funds to establish the regional information office within the region's government center. 

"After so many years of attempts to request funds from various agencies, we now have a brand new building. This is a dream come true, a legacy that we will never forget," Mercado said.

She also thanked past regional directors for the acquisition of the lot at the RGC and the officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways DPWH) 3rd engineering office for ensuring the completion of the building.

Usec. Cualoping also expressed his appreciation for the initiative of Rep. Lara as he presented the services of the PIA to help attain the government's thrust to uplift the lives of the people. 

He also discussed the significant role of the PIA as government communicators in keeping the public abreast of the government's programs, projects, and initiatives through various communication platforms, including digital media. (BME/OTB/PIA 2)
