‘Roxas NegoFair 2023’ exhibits local products

ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA) -- A trade fair dubbed "Kaadlawan sang Roxas NegoFair 2023" opened, May 8, at the Event Center of SM City Roxas as part of the activities for the 72nd anniversary of Roxas City from May 8 to 14 this year.

Roxas City mayor Ronnie Dadivas along with several city government and barangay officials, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) employees and small business owners graced the opening ceremony of the marketing event.

The week-long activity is being participated in by the city's 47 barangays clustered into eight booths that sell and display some of their known products for the mall goers.

Seven small and medium enterprises are joining the NegoFair to showcase their locally-made products like Capisnon native handicrafts, processed food and souvenir items, among others.

Aside from the trade fair booths, the NegoFair also features five tourism promotion booths that exhibits the services and tourist spots in Roxas City and Capiz for reference and information of local and foreign tourists.

Republic Act (RA) 603 otherwise known as the Roxas City Charter named the

municipality of Capiz as Roxas City in honor of its most illustrious son, President Manuel Acuña Roxas.

The cityhood emanated from a bill for the creation of Roxas City, which was sponsored by then Rep. Ramon Arnaldo and was signed into law by President Elpidio Quirino on April 11, 1951, three years after Pres. Roxas died at 56.

Executive Order 438 issued by Pres. Quirino fixed the date of its charter on May 12, 1951. (AGP/AAL/PIA Capiz)
