SJDJ ranks 3rd Best District Jail in MIMAROPA for Q1

SAN JOSE, Occidental Mindoro (PIA) -- The San Jose District Jail (SJDJ) ranked third placer as Best District Jail in MIMAROPA region in the recent Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Regional Warden’s Meeting for the first quarter of 2023.

SJDJ was also recognized as the Best STAR team, also garnered several recognitions with other district jail across the region such as Best Eco-Jail Program Implementer, Best in the Conduct of Drug Testing for Person Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) and BJMP Personnel, Best in the Conduct of Joint Greyhound Operations, and Best in the Conduct of Livelihood Programs.

The jail facility recorded 184 welfare development activities in Q1 which benefitted 176 PDLs.

The activities include Alternative Learning System (ALS) program, skills enhancement, values restoration program, religious activities, and livelihood programs in partnership with various government agencies and non-government organizations.

According to Jail Senior Insp. Bryan Ian Paul A. Rañada, SJDJ Jail Warden, their office will intensify their efforts in providing better service for the PDLs in their jail facility and their families.

“May mga [kino-conceptualize] na bagong program na makakatulong [sa mga PDLs] at even pati ‘yung mga [nakalaya na] (There are new programs being conceptualize that will help the PDLs and even those who have gained their freedom),” Rañada said.

The SJDJ Warden was also recognized as top 3 Best District Warden, while three other SJDJ personnel received Gawad Penolohiya awards, namely JO2 Archie G. Familiara for Best Therapeutic Community Modality Program Implementer, JO1 Bennis Jhon S. Bartolo for Best Paralegal Officer, and JO1 Gwen Garnet Gallego as Best Human Rights Action Officer.
