LAOAG CITY (PIA) – President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is set to attend the inauguration of the 160-megawatt (MW) wind farm in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte on May 19.
This is located in the neighboring barangays of Balaoi and Caunayan.
This Ayala-led energy firm ACEN Corp. considers this project as the largest wind farm in the Philippines with 32 of the latest wind turbines from leading supplier Siemens Gamesa each capable of producing 5 MW.
About P11.4 billion fund was allocated for ACEN’s latest project with its longtime partner, UPC Renewables.
This is ACEN’s third wind development in Ilocos Norte, along with the NorthWind wind farm in Bangui and at the North Luzon Renewables wind farm in Pagudpud.
In an earlier media interview with Gabino Ramon Mejia, president of AC Energy Philippines, he said that this is part of the firm’s vision to lead the renewable energy revolution in Ilocos Norte.
Aside from being the largest, it is also regarded as the lowest cost renewable energy producer in the country as ACEN continues in its effort to ensure renewable energy supply in the communities.
This also means creating job opportunities to boost inclusive and sustainable economic growth in Ilocos Norte.
Consistent in his use of the iconic windmill as his fixture in his administration, President Marcos’ plans for a lower electricity costs through renewable energy sources will be further realized. (JCR/MJTAB PIA Ilocos Norte)
