This is just one of the three Super Health Centers that will be established in the province. The other two will be put up in Jordan and Nueva Valencia towns.

Among the services offered in Super Health Centers are out-patient, birthing, isolation, diagnostic (laboratory: x-ray and ultrasound), pharmacy and ambulatory surgical unit. Other available services are eye, ear, nose, and throat (EENT) service, oncology centers, physical therapy and rehabilitation center. Also, a telemedicine, where remote diagnosis and treatment of patients will be available.

Go said around 322 Super Health Centers will be opened in the country this year. These will include the three facilities in Guimaras and 21 in nearby Iloilo.

In 2022, funds had been set aside for the establishment of 307 Super Health Centers nationwide.

Before proceeding to Buenavista, Go personally visited the Malasakit Center located inside Dr. Catalino Gallego Nava Provincial Hospital in Jordan town. He checked the status and operation of the facility.

According to Go there are now 157 Malasakit Centers and some seven million people across the country who have availed of  the various medical assistance programs and services offered by these centers.

The Malasakit Center,  which houses government agencies such as the Department of Health, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, serves  as a one stop shop for these medical assistance programs and streamlining the process of availing such programs benefiting especially the poor and indigent patients.

Go is the principal author and sponsor of the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019 that directs the establishment of the center in a DOH-run hospital.

While in the province, Go also led the relief operations for indigents and visited local infrastructure initiatives in Buenavista town. He also attended activities held for the celebration of the province’s Manggahan Festival.

These activities include the 1st Manggahan Open Volleyball Tournament and “Mango Eat All You Can”.

Lone District Representative Lucille Nava, Uswag Party List Representative Jojo Ang, Governor Rahman Nava, and Vice Governor John Edward Gando, and other local officials were with Go during his visit. (AAL/LAF/PIA6 Iloilo)
