CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga(PIA) – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) provincial office conducts campus level career coaching workshops to guide graduating senior high students in choosing their college courses.
Schools covered in the initial leg include St. Louis College of Bulanao (SLCB) and Saint William’s Academy in Tabuk City and Bangad National High School and Tinglayan National High School of Tinglayan municipality.
Anthony Luminang of DOLE-Kalinga explained how choosing course relate to the career one intends to pursue.
Like senior high, college prepares you to your careers that ultimately would lead your own life, Luminang said. He elaborated how correct choice of course would lead to desired jobs after college.
To start a career, there are three things to consider: knowing yourself, knowing what you can do and doing what you plan to do, he said.
Luminang presented current situation on labor and employment emphasizing on unemployment, underemployment and job mismatch.
We can help address the situation by equipping labor with related courses, enough training and proper work habits. We need this considering that labor is a major player in the nation’s economic growth, he said. (JDP/LL-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
