Prior to this, at least five (5) UGMO members of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) surrendered to intelligence operatives of the 2nd Eastern Samar Police Mobile Force Company led by PLt. Col. Rolando C. Dellezo, acting force commander.

The surrenderees are allegedly members of the Batakang Organisasyong Partido (BOP) under the command of NPA Secretary Martin Colima alias Maki/Seloy/Badong/Antos.

It was learned that the withdrawal of support of said UGMO members from the CTG was the result of the successful implementation of the Executive Order No. 70, the whole of nation approach of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) with the support of the Kasimbayanan and other advocacy groups.
