SAN JOSE, Antique (PIA) -- The Antique Provincial Statistics Committee (PSC) discussed preparations for the coming 2022 Census of Agriculture and Fisheries to be led by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
PSA Antique Supervising Statistical Specialist Rodme A. Febreo led the discussion on the conduct of the 2022 Census of Agriculture and Fisheries (CAF) in the third quarter of this year.
Though happening in September, he noted that the preparation should start as early as now to give time for the organization in convening the Municipal Census Coordinating Board (MCCBs).
He emphasized that the support of all stakeholders is essential for the successful conduct of this large-scale data gathering activity in agriculture and fisheries.
Likewise, Febreo discussed the adoption of the Philippine Standard Industrial Classification (PSIC) Codes and how this would serve as a framework for data collection, processing, and compilation to ensure uniformity, consistency, and comparability of data produced by both government and private sectors.
He added that the adoption of PSIC and other Standard Classification Codes being used by PSA promotes comparability of data among members of the United Nations (UN) where the Philippines is a member country.
During the meeting of PSC, the results of the 2022 Performance of the Regional Economy were presented wherein Region VI led other regions with a 9.3% gross domestic product (GDP) growth rate.
PSA also reported the ongoing statistical operations for the 2023 Updating of the List of Establishments (ULE) and the opening of the Civil Registration System in Antique.
Expressing gratitude for the participation of everyone at the PSC meeting, Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator Juliana O. Cepe said that the provincial government of Antique fully supports the endeavors of the committee.
She emphasized that the PSC of Antique serves as the policy-making body on statistical matters and a venue of discussion and resolution of statistical issues at the provincial level. (AGP/PSA/PIA Antique)
