PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan (PIA) -- The men of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) successfully installed additional navigational buoys recently in the Kalayaan Island Group (KIG) in the West Philippine Sea (WPS).
Among those equipped with buoys are Patag Island, Balagtas Reef, Kota Island, Panata Island, and Julian Felipe Reef.
It will serve as a guide for Filipino fishermen and large vessels sailing in the WPS according to PCG.
These can also be considered 'sovereign markers' in the KIG that are part of the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of the country, according to PCG Maritime Safety Services Commander, CG Vice Admiral Joseph Coyme.
The PCG recognized the courage and skills being shown by their men who participated in placing the buoys in the KIG. (OCJ/PIA Mimaropa-Palawan)
