PSA 4A to use UN ESCAP tracker to monitor SDG performance

LIPA CITY (PIA) -- The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Region IV-A will use the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP) Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Tracker to better monitor the region’s progress in achieving sustainable development.
In the Monitoring and Tracking of the SDGs Peace of Progress Forum held in this city last May 23 to 24, 2023, PSA IV-A Chief Statistical Specialist Benigno F. Perido urged participating regional line agencies, local government units, and Provincial Statistical Offices to work together in strengthening the government’s capacity to generate reliable data needed in creating evidence-based decisions and policies.
This follows the introduction of using UN ESCAP national SDG tracker which was used by the PSA Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) in reporting their regional SDG performance. PSA CAR Chief Statistical Specialist Federico R. Bahit Jr., and Statistical Analyst Jansenn Rexus Banaña guided the Calabarzon stakeholders in establishing their own monitoring pool.
Meanwhile, Statistical Specialist II Dustin Adriel V. Sulat, and Statistical Analyst Alenna Mae S. Lampitoc  presented the monitoring of the Philippine SDG indicators, and introduced the use of the UN ESCAP national SDG tracker and demonstrated the estimation of time
distance measure.
PSA IV-A Statistical Specialist II Lou Darlence O. Mitra presented the data collection form to be used by agencies in updating the Core Regional SDG Indicators.
Meanwhile, Chief Statistical Specialist Benigno Perido urged stakeholders to work together in achieving the SDGs in Calabarzon.  
“Let us continue to strengthen our capacity in generating reliable data not just for tracking the pace of progress but more importantly for evidence-based decisions and policies.” Perido said.
Launched by the UN, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development aims to stimulate action over the next fifteen years in areas of critical importance for humanity and the planet. (PB/ PSA RSSO 04A)
