DavOcc holds 1st provincial tourism stakeholders’ summit

DAVAO CITY (PIA) -- The provincial local government of Davao Occidental held its first Provincial Tourism Stakeholders’ Summit starting today, May 29, 2023 up to May 31.

The three-day summit, to be held at the ABC gymnasium in Barangay Poblacion, Malita town is expected to gather more than 100 tourism stakeholders from the government and private sectors.

On the first day, the participants will be discussing the proposed Provincial Tourism Code which will serve as a roadmap to developing the tourism industry in the province.

"The summit will serve as a gateway as we build our foundations of our tourism industry. Hopefully, our stakeholders will be equipped through the summit,” said Kathrin Semacio, the Communication Staff for Information of Tourism and Social Events under the Provincial Tourism Office.

The three-day summit will also feature learning sessions and skills development demonstrations, aiming to provide capacity enhancement among the participants.

For instance, the Cooperative Development Authority will provide inputs

on how to establish cooperatives, while the Department of Trade and Industry will be discussing on branding and marketing in digital and print.

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority Davao Occidental will conduct skills demonstration on food and beverage.

There will also be inputs on the proper customer service for the tourism stakeholders. 

A bazaar showcasing various local products of the province will also run for the whole duration of the summit. (DMA/OJT/PIA-XI)
