DAVAO CITY (PIA) -- The Davao Region's celebration of the 15th National Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Month will be launched on Friday, June 2, 2023, in Davao City.
This year's celebration is bannering the theme “Connecting communities in each lives, forging a digital future for the Philippines.”
The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Region XI will spearhead the celebration, which will start with a motorcade, to be followed by a short opening ceremony and a press conference at the University of Mindanao, Matina Campus.
The month-long celebration will be jampacked with different activities including online and onsite technical trainings and webinar on cybersecurity and Data Privacy Act.
DICT Information Technology Officer Engr. Albert Gabriel said that they will be conducting a general virtual assistance bootcamp for 15 former rebels, which will be held on June 14-16 in Talaingod town, Davao del Norte.
The bootcamp aims to equip the FRs with knowledge and skills on virtual assistance for possible online employment.
Gabriel said that for the equipment and internet connectivity needs, the participants can maximize the facilities of DICT or the Technology for Education (Tech4Ed) centers installed in selected barangays.
The other activities include the start up mapping soft opening for the cities of Digos, Tagum and Mati; python programming essential course, cybersecurity competency framework, digital transformation ICT project management, regional Tech4Ed center upskilling and upgrading, among others.
The DICT-XI will also be launching of a free wifi in Social Security System (SSS) Davao and launching of the Tech4Ed center in Mandug, Davao City.
Gabriel invited the public to view the DICT Region XI Facebook page for the schedules of the online and onsite activities, and avail of the free webinars, orientation and capacity building activities lined up for the ICT month celebration in June. (DMA, OJT/PIA Davao Region)
