QUEZON, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) - -  A worker of  a London-based mine firm here has bagged this year’ s The Outstanding Worker of the Republic Award (TOWER) for his innovation to sustain performance and  productivity with the maintenance of  equipments.

Clyde Justine Cayaban, Maintenance Order Processor from the Mobile Maintenance Department of the FCF Minerals Corporation was chosen as TOWER awardee for his exceptional innovation in his work.

The TOWER Award (The Outstanding Worker of the Republic Award) honors the country’s most outstanding employees for their exceptional and outstanding innovations which have significantly contributed to a department or a Company’s overall efficiency, productivity, and performance.

Cayaban’s outstanding work was recognized and noted by the mine firm in 2019 when its mine equipment reliability  was at its lowest and equipment breakdown was at its peak.

Cayaban addressed the problem by developing a system that would forecast inspection and preventive maintenance schedule called the “Heavy Equipment Condition Monitoring” which became the basis for short and long term maintenance plans.

The system contributed to a huge improvement in planning and scheduling of maintenance activities and the planning team has shifted to a proactive approach rather from the usual reactive approach.

As a result, machine availability went up with the utilization and reliability improved, leading to improved control over maintenance costs.

The TOWER Awards Program was founded in 1975 by the Rotary Club of Manila and in recent years, has partnered with People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP) and Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in the search for the most outstanding workers and recognize their contribution to economic development while uplifting Filipino workers’ morale, enhancing individual career opportunities, and promoting industrial peace.

Cayaban received the honor and recognition during the  awarding program of the TOWER Awards 2023 at The Fairmont Hotel held on May 25, 2023 where he  was joined  by  Jesus Pineda, Jr., Chairman TOWER Awards 2023 Committee,  Herminio Esguerra, Rotary Club of Manila President,   Ma. Elizabeth Nasol , PMAP President  and DOLE Secretary  Bienvenido Laguesma. (BME/PIA NVizcaya)
