BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) - -  The Nueve Vizcaya provincial government and the Department of Agriculture (DA) have praised and gave assistance to outstanding farmers in the province.

Provincial Agriculturist Absalom Rizal Baysa said that the recognitions given to the farmers were: Most Outstanding Rice Farmer, Corn Farmer, Fruit Tree Grower, Upland Farmer, Lowland Farmer, Fishpond Operator, Large Ruminants  and Small Ruminants Raisers.

The 50 recognized farmers also received cash prizes from the provincial government and certificates of hybrid seeds from the DA.

Governor Jose Gambito thanked the farmers of the province for their contribution to sustain the food security program of the national as well as local government units in the country.

“Rest assured of more assistance from the provincial government so that agricultural production will continue to increase in the province and lift the economic life of farmers," he said.

The awards and recognitions for the farmers were rolled out through the Farmers and Fisherfolks Month celebration and Awarding of Provincial Outstanding Farmers and Fisherfolks at the Convention Center.

The Farmers and Fisherfolks Month celebration was conducted through an ordinance declaring the month of May as such based on  Presidential Proclamation No. 33, Series of 1989. (BME/PIA NVizcaya)
