COMELEC-XI capacitates local election officers for BSKE 2023

DAVAO CITY (PIA) -- The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) XI conducted a training for all election officers in Davao region on Monday, September 11, in preparation for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabtaan Elections (BSKE) 2023.

The one day training, dubbed as “Training of Trainers II,” is the second part of the series of trainings undertaken by COMELEC to equip its election personnel nationwide, and cascade new information and guidelines down to its local constituents.

Over 50 election officers and election assistants across the region attended the activity facilitated by the COMELEC-XI officials, who first received the same training from the COMELEC head office.

After the training, the election officers will conduct a series of training and briefings for the candidates and teachers in their respective localities for the conduct of the elections slated on October 30, 2023.

“Kani para sa atoang mga election officers kay sila man pod ang mag-conduct sa briefing para sa atuang mga teachers (This is for our election

officers who will conduct the briefing for our teachers),” COMELEC-XI Assistant Regional Director lawyer Gay Enumerables said.

Enumerables said the training covers lectures and workshops on BSKE 2023 general instruction, appreciation of ballot, and the guidelines of the newly-implemented Kontra-Bigay, an anti-vote buying and vote selling mechanism.

“Ang pinakabago sa amoa karon nga ma-take up is yung resolution on Kontra-Bigay sa vote buying and vote selling (The newest on our part that will be taken up today is the resolution on Konta-Bigay, which involves vote buying and vote selling),” she added.

Meanwhile, in his message, COMELEC-XI Regional Director lawyer Remlane Tambuang emphasized the importance of the training for keeping BSKE 2023 clean and peaceful.

Tambuang once again urged the election officers to be firm against election-related offenses, and not hesitate to file disqualification against the offenders.

Enumerables, on the other hand, said that so far, based on their monitoring, they have not received any complaints yet. (ASO/CLC, PIA-XI)
