BANGUED, Abra (PIA) -- Local officials of the remote barangays in the municipality of Tineg participate in a 4-day Barangay Development Planning workshop spearheaded by the Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of Social Welfare and Development with the Municipal Local Government Unit.
The first batch is composed of officials from the barangay Agsimao, Anayan, Naglibcan, Belaat, and Cogon who will have their training from September 18 to 21. The second batch will participants from Apao, Alaoa, Caganayan, Lapat-Balantay and Lanec will start training on Sept. 25.
Participants are the barangay captains, treasurers, secretaries, Barangay Sangguniang Kabataan chairperson, kagawad and people’s organization.
Tineg Municipal Local Government Operations Officer Janice Cristine Ton said the training involves a series of workshops for the formulation or enhancement of their Barangay Development Plan (BDP).
There are also simulation exercises where the participants will conduct an in-depth review of their goals and objectives indicated in their BDP. This ensures that its contents will directly address the needs of the community and its residents.
“This will update and develop their BDP dahil may mga barangays na matagal nang nagawa yung BDP nila, hindi pa sila ang official noon. So, first we need to ensure that our barangay local officials are trained by going through capacity building process,” she said.
In an interview with Cogon Punong Barangay Jeremias Batawang, he said that the 4-day workshop is a substantial time for them to focus in the crafting of their own BDP.
“Tututokan namin ang BDP sa workshop na ito dahil mahalaga ang mga programs and projects na kailangan naming i-prepare para sa barangay naming especially sa Cogon, isa sa mga pinakamalayong barangay dito sa Abra,” he said.
Barangay Cogon is one of the isolated barangays of Tineg which takes several hours of trekking since transportation is limited in the area. (JDP/CAGT – PIA CAR, Abra)
