CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) -- Farmers and residents of Barangay Salinungan West, San Mateo, Isabela will now enjoy the benefit of the newly-concreted P5 million worth of barangay road with drainage system.

Barangay Salinungan West is primarily engaged in rice and corn production and second in Munggo production. It was declared by the Department of Agriculture as the Munggo Capital of the country.

The project was funded through the town's incentive as a passer of the 2022 Seal of Good Local Governance last year.

The project started last April 2023 and completed this August 2023.

San Mateo Mayor Gregorio Pua said the upgraded local access road will provide access to transporting farm products in the barangay, particularly for farmers and fisher folks, and improve mobility of the residents in the area.

Pua said a total of 6,051 residents including the farmers of Salinungan West will surely benefit from the project particularly in transporting their agricultural products going to the town’s business center.
