Dumaguete brgy tanods receive cash incentives

DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, Nov. 13 (PIA) -- The Dumaguete City Peace and Order Council has approved the release of the cash incentives for qualified members of the Barangay Tanod Brigades for the third quarter of this year.

Under the local ordinance, with the guidance of the Department of Interior and Local Government, qualified tanods can receive between P600 to P800 monthly, depending on the training they have completed.

Dumaguete City Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo stressed that the monthly cash incentives given to the barangay tanods, in addition to their honoraria, is one way of showing appreciation for their efforts and dedication in keeping the peace and safety in their respective communities.

The incentives being allotted from the city government would also motivate the tanods to initiate crime prevention efforts primarily in their area.

Barangay tanods are a group of civilian volunteers who serve as force multipliers of the Philippine National Police and who share key information to prevent and solve crimes in their communities.  (JCT/PIA7 Negros Oriental)
