BCPO Station 2 feeding program benefits 20 day care learners

BCPO Station 2 personnel assist learners during the a feeding program at the Happy Homes Child Development  Center on November 13, 2023 in line with the celebration of Children's Month.

BAGUIO CITY (PIA) -- Learners at the Happy Homes Child Development  Center were a picture of joy and delight as they received packed lunch from the Baguio City Police Office (BSPO) Station 2 on Monday, November 12, 2023.
At least 20 learners from said center benefitted in the feeding program sponsored by the BCPO Station 2 in partnership with the Local Council for the Protection of Children.
Police Corporal Janice Liquit of BCPO Station 2 said they spearheaded the feeding activity to highlight the importance of good nutrition for the children.

According to Liquit, this is also another way of dispelling the unfavorable perception of police among kids.
“Ang napili naming activity is feeding program sa mga bata para makuha namin 'yung trust ng mga bata kasi usually, ginagawa ng ating mga magulang is  panakot ang mga kapulisan, kaya ayun din ang isang dahilan kung bakit feeding program ang napili naming activity,” Liquit explained.
Flora Jyacinth Nantiatu finds such activity  beneficial for parents like her  particularly in ensuring their children's nutrition.
“Thankful kami kasi hindi lang parents ang gumagabay sa mga bata so we have as well yung mga kapulisan natin na handang tumulong din making sure na nourished pa rin ang mga anak namin,  tapos may special activities na ipinapakita 'yung rights ng mga bata,” Nantiatu  said.
Nantiatu encouraged her fellow parents to maintain their children's good nutrition by providing them with healthy foods.
“As  parent, hindi lang sana natin ii-stop dito lang sa school yung tinuturo ng teacher natin, ituloy parin natin sya bahay at yung pinapakain natin is hindi lang mga junkfood,  dapat yung nakakatulong sa paglaki ng bata,” she said.
The feeding program was  part of the celebration of the 31st National Children's Month with the theme,  "Healthy, Nourished, Sheltered: Ensuring the Rght to Life for All." (JDP/DEG with Raeneil Inocencio, SLU Intern) (Photos: Jelleson Agang-ang, SLU Intern)

In celebration of National Children's Month, the BCPO Station 2 initiates a feeding program at the Happy Homes Child Development  Center on Monday, November 13, 2023.
