NIA turns over irrigation systems to Ifugao LGU

LAGAWE, Ifugao (PIA) – – The National Irrigation Administration (NIA)  recently turned over community irrigation systems  in the municipality of Mayayao to the local government unit.

Turned-over to the  LGU headed by Mayoyao Mayor Jimmy Jr. B. Padchanan represented by Executive Assistant William A. Gopeng last January  24 were  31 operational  CIS  irrigation systems. The  event was  witnessed by   members of the irrigators associations,  and farmers and representatives  from the host barangays.

The turn over of irrigation projects by NIA to the LGU is in line with the implementation of the Mandanas Ruling and Executive Order 138   devolving    certain functions, services, and facilities of the national government agencies to the LGUs.

Meanwhile, in Lamut town  the improvement of more than six-kilometer service road of the Hapid Irrigation System along the stretch of the dam intake to Landing, Hapid, and in Sanafe area to Poblacion West was completed.  This will help boost the operation and maintenance of the irrigation system as well as in the transportation of the farm inputs and produce of the irrigators’ associations and bring more development in the rural areas.

The NIA – Cordillera also reported that concreting of lateral canals along B1 and B1-1 at Barangay Sanafe, Lamut is also completed. (JDP/MBL- PIA CAR, Ifugao)  Photos by LGU Mayoyao
