NIS registers 538,893 Antiqueños

SAN JOSE, Antique (PIA) — The Philippine Statistics Authority has registered 538,893 Antiqueños under the National Identification System (NIS) since its implementation in 2020.

This represents 90.40 percent of the province’s total population count of 612,974 based on the 2020 population census.

Chief Statistical Specialist Randy Tacogdoy said that last year, a total of 51,914 individuals were recorded and given ID numbers.

Tacogdoy noted that this achievement underscores the province’s commitment to inclusive registration efforts.

Among the 18 municipalities in Antique, three posted registration figures above the provincial average such as Sibalom, San Jose, and Caluya.

On the other hand, the municipalities Sebaste, Belison, and Anini-y were reported with the highest number of unregistered individuals last year.

With this, PSA committed to intensify registration activities in these areas.

Meanwhile, the towns with the highest number of issued National ID in Paper include San Jose, Hamtic, and Sibalom.

PSA information officer Patricia Dhianne Ga-an said that the transition to real-time National ID in Paper issuance has significantly enhanced service delivery, allowing registrants to receive their National ID immediately after registration.

With the positive response of the Antiqueños on ID registration, PSA hopes to accomplish more this year so that more citizens will be able to access essential government services, ensuring greater inclusivity and streamlined processes for all. (AGP/PSA/PIA Antique)
