QUEZON CITY, (PIA) — No more “sana all (I wish).”
This was the declaration of Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon in his Local State of the Children Report (LSCR) during the culminating activity for National Children’s Month held on November 28 at Festival Mall in Alabang.
“This year, we worked very hard so that there will no longer be any ‘sana all’ from our children especially in terms of education. Our goal is to open doors of possibilities for every child, to empower them to dream big and work hard to achieve those dreams,” Biazon said.
In his second LSCR, Biazon outlined the opportunities offered by the City Government for Muntinlupeño children to achieve their dreams, starting with the distribution of Balik-Eskwela kits to over 90,000 students from kindergarten to senior high school, including 8,099 young learners in 92 Day Care Centers.
Biazon also highlighted the opportunities presented by additional avenues in education, such as the newly-established College of Medicine under the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa (PLMun) and Ospital ng Muntinlupa (Osmun), the Muntinlupa City Technical Institute (MCTI) for vocational training, and the city’s expanded scholarship program.
In addition, Biazon also presented other local government initiatives such as the “Womb to Work” program, which has benefited more than 3,000 pregnant mothers; regular and expanded vaccination for infants to prevent the early onset of fatal or crippling diseases; and the Sustainable Nutrition Augmentation Program (SNAP) which aims to eradicate malnutrition especially among Muntinlupeño children.
“Our commitment as a local government is to prioritize the well-being and future of our young ones. This is not a political promise; it’s a personal commitment from one parent to another,” Biazon added.
National Children’s Month is a yearly observance instituted by Republic Act No. 10661 under President Benigno Aquino Jr. which aims to provide Filipino children expanded access to a healthy environment, quality education, and ample health care. (PIA-NCR)
