Nominations on for ‘Bugal kang Antique 2024’

SAN JOSE, Antique (PIA) — The Binirayan Foundation has opened the nominations for this year’s “Bugal kang Antique” awards.

The Bugal is an annual search for outstanding Antiqueños and organizations that have given pride and honor to Antique through their noteworthy achievements and significant contributions to the community.

Bugal committee chair and Peace, Order, and Public Safety (POPS) Office head Margie L. Gadian said that the distinction “Bugal kang Antique (Pride of Antique)” is reserved for Antiqueños and organizations that have promoted the welfare of and have brought pride and honor to the province and its people.

Gadian stressed that the accomplishments and contributions of nominees must have an exceptional and positive impact on the community.

The Bugal kang Antique awards are given in the fields of Governance and Public Service, Arts and Culture, Entrepreneurship, Leadership, Environmental Protection, Sports, and Community Service.

Any Antiqueño, by birth or affiliation, or organization, may be nominated by a fellow Antiqueño, a local government unit (LGU), or another organization, provided that nominations are properly and sufficiently supported by documentation.

Nominations must include the resume of the nominee or profile of the organization, proof of achievements and social contributions, testimonies from other persons, clippings from printed publications, and other relevant documentation, such as photographs.

The Bugal kang Antique selection committee will be composed of representatives from the academe, business sector, religious sector, non-partisan groups, and former awardees who will identify this year’s awardees based on the criteria of community impact, personal integrity, education qualification, and awards and recognitions received.

The Bugal kang Antique Awards, with notable former awardees such as Senator Loren Legarda and renowned trail runner John Ray “Stingray” Onifa, is one of the major events in Antique’s biggest and grandest cultural festival, Binirayan Festival, held every December.

Nominations for the search may be submitted until November 15 to the POPS Office, 2/F ANIAD Building, New Provincial Capitol in San Jose de Buenavista town.
