CAGAYAN DE ORO, Misamis Oriental (PIA) — The Gender Advocates Normin, Inc. (GANI) and the Regional Gender and Development Committee (RGADC)-10 called for gender equality and inclusive development as they led the National Women’s Month kickoff in the region, March 3.
The kickoff ceremony featured a motorcade and a short program at the 4th Infantry Division, Philippine Army, emphasizing the importance of equal opportunities for women across all sectors.
Col. Rey Pasco, assistant division commander for reservists and retirees affairs, acknowledged the essential role of women in nation-building, especially in fields like the military, traditionally dominated by men.
“Women are vital to mission building and development. As we observe Women’s Month, let us work to create more opportunities for women in all sectors, empowering them to contribute to a stronger and more progressive nation,” Pasco said.
Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-10 Regional Director Ramel Jamen also underscored the significant contributions of women across society and the need for continued progress toward gender equality.
“This year’s theme, ‘We for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society,’ reinforces our collective commitment to building a society where everyone, regardless of gender, has equal opportunities to thrive. This month serves as a reminder of our responsibility to push forward policies and programs that empower women, promote gender equality and protect gender rights,” he said.
RGADC-10 also scheduled other activities for the celebration, including the Pinay sa Lente photo contest, virtual Zumba, the Guess the Pinay photo game, presentation of 2025 National Women’s Month Celebration highlights of accomplishments, and a cooking activity dubbed “Lutong Nanay, Lutong Tatay: Lasa ng Pag-ibig at Kwento ng Buhay.”
Maj. Daisy Baguio, GANI president, said the activities reinforce the government’s commitment to gender equality and national development. She emphasized that the Women’s Month celebration would continue throughout March with activities focused on empowering women and strengthening their role in building a more inclusive society.
