CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA) — The Regional Development Council (RDC) of Northern Mindanao celebrated the exemplary performance and achievement of individuals and institutions that bring honor and pride to the region.
During its 136th Full Council Meeting, December 15, the RDC awarded Rex M. Sario, Master Teacher of Balogo Elementary School in Pangantucan, Bukidnon, and Jovelyn G. Delosa, PhD, Professor of Northern Bukidnon State College in Manolo Fortich, also in Bukidnon for winning the 2023 Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Filipino Award for Teachers, a prestigious career-service award for Filipino exemplars in the academe, military, and police sectors.
RDC-X also recognized the region’s most outstanding volunteers who will represent Northern Mindanao in the 2023 Search for Oustanding Volunteers (SOV). Honored during the meeting were Ana Ninfa B. Caballero, the regional nominee for the Adult Category and St. Michael’s College of Iligan for the Organization Category. Also recognized were the regional finalists Mely Llago Jacob, Rotary Club of Iligan Maria Cristina, and Paglingkawas Women Federation. A special citation was meanwhile given to LGU-Cagayan de Oro.
The SOV is an annual search that aims to identify and recognize outstanding Filipino volunteers and volunteer organizations for their exemplary performance and achievements in empowering communities and promoting volunteerism as a way of life.
RDC-X likewise recognized local government units (LGUs) in the region that got the 2023 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG), an institutionalized incentive and recognition-based program that encourages LGUs’ commitment to continuously progress and improve their performance along various governance areas.
Among the recipients of the 2023 SGLG are the provinces of Camiguin and Lanao del Norte and the cities of Cagayan de Oro, Valencia, El Salvador and Gingoog. Other awardees are the municipalities of Damulog, Kibawe, Manolo Fortich, Maramag and San Fernando in Bukidnon, Catarman, Mahinog and Sagay in Camiguin, Bacolod, Balo-i, Kapatagan, Kauswagan, Magsaysay, Matungao, Sapad, Sultan Naga Dimaporo and Tubod in Lanao del Norte, Aloran, Calamba, Concepcion, Jimenez and Sapang Dalaga in Misamis Occidental, and Alubijid, Claveria, Medina, Opol, Salay, Sugbongcogon and Villanueva in Misamis Oriental.
In addition, the RDC celebrated the National Task Force to End Local Armed Conflict Regional Gawad Parangal Awardees, namely, NEDA-X Regional Director Mylah Faye Aurora Cariño, Northern Bukidnon State College President Catherine Roween Almaden, and the Philippine Information Agency-10.
It also honored the RDC-X Full Council and Sector Committee members who have retired or transferred within the year. (APB/PIA-10)
