CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA) — The chairperson of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Development Council of Misamis Oriental emphasized the importance of technology adoption for MSMEs in scaling up their businesses.
“We challenge you, the MSMEs, to scale up,” Chairperson Raymundo Talimio stated during the opening of the Kahimunan Regional Trade Fair on August 16.
He said MSMEs can further improve by leveraging the available technology.
“During the National MSME Summit in Manila, artificial intelligence was introduced as a technology that MSMEs can utilize for growth,” he added.
Talimio Jr. acknowledged the funding challenges faced by MSMEs but emphasized that staying at the forefront of technology can drive product improvement and innovation.
He also recognized that funding and financial support are paramount concerns for MSMEs. He called for tiered regulatory requirements based on the size of the MSMEs, as stringent regulations can be burdensome for smaller businesses.
Furthermore, he hopes the city will develop more ordinances to support MSMEs. Such initiatives could include tax incentives and streamlined business registration processes.
The Kahimunan Regional Trade Fair is a platform for MSMEs to showcase their products and services, connect with potential customers, and explore growth opportunities. The DTI-10 organized the event to boost MSME sales in the region.
This year’s Kahimunan features 40 MSMEs from Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, and Misamis Oriental. (APB/PIA-10)
