CATARMAN, Northern Samar (PIA) — The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Revenue District Office 85 reported exceeding its tax collection target for the year 2024.

Assistant Revenue District Officer Marina Vicentuan reported a collection of P1,404,564,709.65, surpassing the target of P1,403,774,000. This success highlights the BIR’s efforts to improve tax collection in Northern Samar.

The tax campaign’s success stemmed from initiatives like tax mapping, visits, and business briefings, along with ongoing notifications and better coordination with taxpayers.

Vicentuan noted that digital payment options have encouraged timely tax remittances. These options allow business owners to pay taxes online or through accredited banks, thus avoiding trips to the distant BIR office.

The deadline for income tax payment is April 15, 2025. She added that it is important to file on time, as late submissions may result in interest and penalties.

“I pay on time because I’m aware of my responsibilities, and my accountant keeps me informed. I prefer paying in advance to avoid penalties,” said Allan Pura, a local businessman, who emphasized his commitment to tax obligations.

Revenue District Office 85 is preparing for 2025 and expects to receive directives from the national office regarding target tax collections that will exceed previous expectations. (AND, PIA Northern Samar)
