CATARMAN, Northern Samar (PIA) — A month-long celebration is set for the 2024 Ibabao Festival in Northern Samar to highlight its 59th Founding Anniversary on June 19, 2024.
Series of events were flexed to showcase the tourism, cultural heritage, and various products of the province for the guests and visitors to enjoy and experience and for the residents to appreciate and nurture.
The festivities started with a float parade participated in by the local government units on May 19, followed by Summer Saya sa Ibabao, Ibabao Heritage Conference, Agri-Tourism Trade Fair, Children’s Day, Night Market, Pet Day, Ibabao Got Talent, Rescue Jamboree, and Mutya san Ibabao Press Presentation.
In his message during the opening of the festival, Vice Governor Clarence Dato, the Ibabao Festival Committee chairperson stressed that the celebration honors the rich tapestry of beauty, culture, and heritage that defines the province, that will raise the province to a brighter and more sustainable future.
Other activities include Battle of the Bands, Senior’s Day, Ibabao service and job fair, dance competition, songwriting competition, color fun run, Senior’s Day, Environment Day, Health Day, and more.
Highlights to watch for is the search for the Mutya san Ibabao on June 14, a night with Sarah Geronimo on June 15, State of the Province Address and Kauswagan Awards on June 17 and the commemorative day on the 19th of June.
To reiterate the statement of the program committee, the Ibabao Festival hopes to foster cultural awareness, engender deeper appreciation of the history, cultural heritage and development of Northern Samar, instill pride, integrity, understanding and unity among the present and future generations of Norte Samarnon.
