NTC serves 327 subscribers during 1st on-site sim registration in Ligao

LEGAZPI CITY, ALBAY(PIA5/Albay)—The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) Bicol successfully launched the very first on-site registration in remote areas of Paulba, Ligao City, Albay on January 27, Friday. It benefited and registered a total of 327 subscribers.

The said registrants was able to register their SIMs during the said activity  except those who scanned the QR code of the telecom companies that attended the on-site SIM registration.

Smart successfully registered the SIM cards of 189 individuals, Globe (85), and DITO (53). All telecommunications companies had zero (0) failed SIM registration.

SIM registrant from Brgy. Bacong Ligao City Maricris Egloria disclosed that the on-site registration helped them to avoid fake links online used by the scammers.

‘’Sa ngunian na aldaw maugma kami dahil pumunta po kayo sa barangay namin para mag-register nitong mga sim card, ayaw talaga namun mag-register (online) ta dakol ang pumapasok saamin na link so iba kaya mga scam,’’ [Today, we are happy that you visited our brgy. to register our SIM cards. We do not like to register on the links we received, since some of them are  scams],” Egloria said.

‘’Kaya mas gugustuhin namin na kamo mismo sa mga taga NTC, LGU, ang mag digdi,’’[That is why we prefer that the NTC, and the Local Government Units (LGU) will come (to assist our SIM registration],’’she added.

Paulba Punong Barangay Jona Peñalosa was grateful that their barangay was chosen by the NTC and Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT)  to conduct the on-site SIM registration since it is a strategic location being at the center of upland barangays of Ligao and Oas, Albay.

NTC Bicol Regional Director Engr. Samuel S. Sabile stated that the activity was in accordance with the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of RA 11934 SIM registration law that requires them to provide on-site registration assistance to their subscribers.

‘’This is a continuing activity that will last until the deadline of the registration,’’Sabile said.

The next target areas for on-site registration will be Pilar Sorsogon, Naga City on Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Masbate and Catanduanes.

‘’Registration of SIM cards is important to address the problems of illegal activities done by the scammers through call or text messages,’’ Sabile said.

Sabile adviced all SIM subscribers to  register and take advantage of the on-site registration activities to avoid  the deactivation of their SIMs. (PIA5/Albay/CLM)
