BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) – The Provincial Local Government Unit of Nueva Vizcaya has allotted P25 million to boost the employment program for Novo Vizcayanos.
Dolly Rose Minas, chief of the PLGU’s Provincial Employment Service Division, said the fund will provide jobs in the province through the ‘Trabaho Para ti Umili’(Jobs for the People) program.
She said the ‘Trabaho Para ti Umili’ Program, a localized version of the Department of Labor and Employment’s “Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers” is expected to benefit 5,000 Novo Vizcayanos.
“This year, we have increased our budget to P25 million, compared to last year’s P10 million which benefited 2,000 workers,” Minas said.
She said the PLGU’s job program with its increased budget will be expanded within the province, targeting villagers who have lost their jobs and were not included in the TUPAD Program beneficiaries.
Novo Vizcayanos who will be chosen under the ‘Trabaho Para ti Umili’ will earn P500.00 a day or P5,000 for ten days doing community-based projects in their respective barangays such as cleaning and maintaining public parks and spaces, among others.
“To join the program, applicants must provide documentation verifying their status as displaced workers, including certification from their Punong Barangay confirming their unemployment, underemployment, or low-income status,” Minas said.
She added that the PLGU has requested an exemption from the Commission on Elections to ensure the program’s start of its implementation next month. (OTB/BME/PIA NVizcaya)
