DIADI, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA)—The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) is set to launch the construction of a communal irrigation project to enhance agricultural productivity for farmers in Barangay Namamparan, Diadi, Nueva Vizcaya.
The P20 million Namamparan-Bungol Communal Irrigation Project will be implemented by the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) under the DAR Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program – Irrigation Component. The initiative aims to improve irrigation for 23 hectares of agricultural land.
The project includes rehabilitating canal linings, constructing various irrigation structures, and enhancing the water distribution system.
Engr. David Villanueva, Jr., OIC Provincial Agrarian Reform Officer, emphasized that the project will significantly boost agricultural productivity and improve the quality of life for farmer beneficiaries.
“We have already conducted a pre-construction conference and signed agreements for this project with NIA,” he stated.
The P’Na Dur-As Agrarian Reform Community will be the primary beneficiary of the irrigation facility, with members engaged in rice, corn, and high-value crop production.
Diadi Mayor Sandy Gayaton expressed support for the irrigation project. “With an expected completion within 300 days, the P’Na Dur-As Agrarian Reform Community can anticipate a more reliable and efficient irrigation system,” he said.
Gayaton added that the project will enhance local farmers’ agricultural yields, livelihoods, and production capabilities. (BME/PIA NVizcaya)
