BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) – Nueva Vizcaya Gov. Jose Gambito praised President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. recently for giving P50 million as assistance to farmers who were affected by the El Nino weather phenomenon here.
Gambito received the check during the President’s recent visit to Ilagan City.
“This generous support from President Marcos Jr. is a significant lifeline for our farmers who have been struggling due to the adverse effects of El Niño. We are deeply thankful for this timely intervention, which will go a long way in helping our agricultural sector recover and sustain their livelihood,” the governor said.
He said the P50 million assistance will be distributed to 5,000 farmers in the province at P10,000 each.
Gambito said the assistance aims to provide immediate relief and support to Novo Vizcayano farmers.
“This aid will ensure that they can continue their farming activities despite the challenges posed by the prolonged dry spell,” he said.
Vic Delizo, a farmer from Barangay Indiana in Bambang town expressed elation and appreciation over the assistance given by President Marcos.
“I hope that a share of the assistance will also be given to us so that we can also recover from our losses due to the adverse effects of the prolonged drought,” he said.
Aside from Nueva Vizcaya, President Marcos also distributed nearly P200 million in financial assistance to farmers from other provinces in Cagayan Valley.
Aside from the financial aid, Gambito also lauded President Marcos’ poverty alleviation interventions such as the ‘Kadiwa ng Pangulo’ program, which connects farmers directly to consumers, ensuring better prices for agricultural produce, the ‘Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair’, a program that brings government services and financial assistance closer to the citizens, and the ‘Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund’, which provides comprehensive support to rice farmers.
