BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) – The Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU) of Nueva Vizcaya allocated over P31 million as its contribution to the nationwide poverty reduction initiatives.
Dolly Rose Minas, chief of the Provincial Employment Service Office, said that the initiative includes new social service programs aimed at reducing poverty in the province and empowering local communities to actively participate in governance activities.
“One of the key components of this initiative is the Jobs in Need of Gifts (JING) program, which has been allocated a substantial budget of P18 million,” she said.
Minas explained that this program aims to provide livelihood assistance to tricycle drivers in Nueva Vizcaya who did not receive support from the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s Ayuda para sa Kapos sa Kita program.
“The JING program is expected to benefit approximately 3,000 tricycle drivers and operators, providing essential resources to help them recover from economic setbacks and regain financial stability,” she added.
Another component is the Trabaho para iti Umili, with a budget allocation of P10 million.
Minas noted that the localized Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers program targets 2,000 disadvantaged and displaced workers in the province.
“Beneficiaries will work for ten days, earning a wage of P5,000,” she said.
The local government is also assisting drivers in securing free licenses through the Driver’s License Mo, Sagut ni Gayyem ti Umili program, which has a budget of P3.185 million. This initiative aims to help informal sector workers obtain non-professional driver’s licenses.
“This program specifically targets individuals who have already secured a student permit or a first-time license but need additional support to complete the process,” Minas explained.
The program will cover all costs associated with the mandatory practical driving course, as well as non-professional or professional license fees and the necessary medical certificate.
With the implementation of the Driver’s License Mo, Sagut ni Gayyem ti Umili program, the high incidence of road accidents in the province is expected to decrease.
“This program encourages drivers and vehicle owners to avail themselves of the necessary permits and licenses from our office, contributing to our land transportation safety rules, regulations, and security campaign,” said Marietta Flores, chief of the Land Transportation Office, Bayombong District.
