BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) – At least 21 persons with disabilities (PWDs) in Nueva Vizcaya received free prostheses from national and local government units.
Venus Cadabona, Provincial Disability Affairs Office chief, stated that the assistive devices were funded with P1.27 million allocated to the first batch of 80 PWDs targeted to receive prostheses in the province.
She explained that the prostheses were provided through a partnership project involving the Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU), the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and the National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC).
The youngest recipient of the prosthesis was 13-year-old Jaymark Sioco from Barangay Runruno in Quezon, who was born with a physical disability, while the oldest beneficiary was 80-year-old Rodolfo Rocacorba from Bayombong, who lost his leg in a car accident.
Both expressed their gratitude to the donors for the artificial limbs.
“These artificial limbs are part of the PLGU’s holistic assistance to our PWDs, empowering them to face the challenges of becoming productive individuals in their respective communities,” Cadabona said. (BME/PIA NVizcaya)
