Nueva Vizcaya rolls out PBBM aid for victims of Typhoon Pepito

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) – The provincial government of Nueva Vizcaya has started the distribution of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s financial assistance for the victims of super Typhoon Pepito (Man-Yi) that hit the area in November last year.

Emergency Shelter Assistance amounting to P5,000 each will be given to typhoon victims whose houses were either partially or totally damaged during the typhoon’s onslaught. 

Widow Fatima Buado, 65, of Barangay Calaocan in Quezon town hit hardest by Pepito’s onslaught, lost the roof of her house. She thanked President Marcos, Jr. and the provincial government for their assistance.

“This is a great help for me who is living alone. This will help me in rebuilding my house,” she said.King Webster Balaw-ing, acting Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management officer, said there were more than 12,000 recipients of the emergency shelter assistance (ESA) in the province, who will receive P50 million in aid given by President Marcos, Jr. during his visit in November 2024.

Balaw-ing said that the PBBM fund will also be augmented by the provincial government with P12 million from its Quick Response Fund to sufficiently address the ESA needs of the typhoon victims.

The distribution of the ESA, which started has just started covered typhoon victims of the towns of Bambang, Aritao, Dupax del Norte, Sta. Fe, Bayombong, Solano, Diadi, Quezon, and Villaverde.

Balaw-ing added that a similar ESA distribution event will also be done in other areas of the province to bring the assistance closer to the typhoon victims, especially in remote communities. (OTB/BME/PIA NVizcaya)
