Nueva Vizcaya steps up anti-VAWC initiatives

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) –  The Provincial Local Government Unit of Nueva Vizcaya has strengthened its support and campaign for Republic Act 9262, or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Children Act.

The PLGU recently launched the  Nueva Vizcaya Enduring Devotion Ordinance which seeks to recognize the unshattered bonding of married couples for 50 years and beyond, thereby bringing peace, tranquility, and general development of their family.

“With this ordinance, we hope to instill among our youth and future generation the value of marriage as a necessary and significant foundation of peace-loving, law-abiding and responsible Novo Vizcayanos,” said Board Member Patricio Dumlao, Jr.,  the ordinance’s main author.

He said one of the major qualifications for a couple to be qualified for the Nueva Vizcaya Enduring Devotion Ordinance is their clean record on domestic violence or abuse cases.

During the launching of the ordinance, 50 Novo Vizcayano couples received P50,000.00 each as a cash incentive.

The couples will be given free medical check-ups in PLGU-managed hospitals in the province, aside from the Certificate of Recognition given to them.

Governor Jose Gambito said the Nueva Vizcaya Enduring Devotion Ordinance will serve as an inspiration among future generations to value marriage and hold it dear.

“When families are strong, communities thrive, and our province progresses. We must recognize that social issues such as teenage pregnancy, school dropouts, and drug abuse often stem from broken homes. By supporting our families, we are investing in a brighter future for all,” he said. (OTB/BME/PIA NVizcaya)
