NV cops, LTO, partners step-up enforcement of traffic, transportation laws

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) – The Philippine National Police, Land Transportation Office, and their deputized agents will intensify apprehension of violators of transportation and traffic laws in the province.

The intensified move came with the ongoing Road Reblocking and Asphalt Overlay Project implementation along the stretch of the Maharlika Highway from Diadi town to Sta. Fe town which caused heavy traffic last year.

Police Provincial Director Jectopher Haloc said strict enforcement of transportation and traffic laws will be intensified to lessen the gravity of traffic problems along road construction sites in the province.

“We have to sustain this campaign to maintain proper order and instill discipline in our several erring motorists plying the national highway so that heavy traffic will be lessened. One of the major causes of heavy traffic was the counter flowing of vehicles, defying traffic signages, flagmen and persons in authority,” he said.

Haloc said a composite team of PNP, LTO, DPWH, barangay, and municipal officials have been organized to help and assist in the proper management of road traffic among motorists, especially along road construction sites.

The ongoing Road Reblocking Projects are in Barangay Nagsabaran in Diadi town, Kinacao in Bagabag town and Barangay Tactac in Sta. Fe while the Asphalt Overlay project is being done in Batu Ferry Bridge including its approaches in Bambang town.

He said  the enforcement of transportation and traffic laws will also be enforced outside road construction sites to ensure the safety of the riding public and encourage violators to legalize their driver’s licenses and vehicle registrations, among others.

Haloc said from December 20, 2024 to January 2, 2025 alone, 2,567 violators have been given citation tickets for their violations.

These violations cover RA 4136 o Land Transportation & Traffic Code, RA 10930 or Drivers License Act, RA 8749 or Philippine Clean Air Act, RA 8794 o Motor Vehicle User’s Charge, RA 8794 o Seat Belt Law at RA 10054 or Helmet Law. (OTB/BME/PIA NVizcaya)
