NV mine firm partners with DTI for sustainable livelihood dev’t

QUEZON, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) – The FCF Minerals Corporation has partnered with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to assist community livelihood organizations toward their journey to sustainable livelihood.

General Manager Lorne Harvey said a recent engagement with the officials of the DTI headed by Provincial Director lawyer Michael Paggabao focused on the alignment of their programs and activities geared towards sustainable industry and enterprise development, specifically under the project, Generating Opportunities for Livelihood Development which was initiated last year.

“Aside from assisting Community-Based Organizations, project GOLD’s main goal is to create a self-sustaining economy to guarantee the community’s independence, particularly beyond the mine life,” he said.

Harvey said the sustainable partnership assistance targets their assisted CBOs, particularly ABEL -Runruno Indigenous Peoples Organization in the program with Catalyste+ (formerly Canadian Executive Service Organization) on women empowerment,  possible conduct of more capacity-building sessions, the status of interventions for the Ginger Processing of Golden Malilibeg Livelihood Association, Inc., bamboo planting activities, the proper documentation of the company’s exports,  other marketing interventions, especially on applying for the License to Operate from the Food and Drug Administration and the establishment of a Pasalubong Center to showcase all the products of the CBOs, among others.

He said their partnership with the DTI officials who recently made a mine visit at the project site is expected to strengthen their efforts in developing a multi-agency environment in assisting the CBOs on sustainable livelihood development  that will contribute to the socio-economic progress of their communities.
