MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL (PIA) — The Oaminal family and Team Asenso secured all major positions in the 2025 midterm elections in Misamis Occidental, winning the posts of Governor, Vice Governor, both Congressional seats, 14 municipal mayors, three city mayors, vice mayors, councilors, and party-list representatives.
The Provincial Board of Canvassers officially proclaimed the winners on May 13. Governor Henry Oaminal was re-elected with 297,067 votes, ahead of Samson Dumanjug (38,330), Marc Lester Malandaya (1,256), and Bibiano Salvanera (416).
Re-elected 2nd District Representative Sancho Fernando Oaminal received 176,532 votes, defeating Rudy Luna.
Governor Oaminal thanked voters and highlighted the peaceful conduct of the election. He noted it was the first time a single group had won all major positions in the province.
“This marks my seventh election victory, and I must say that this election is the most orderly and peaceful one in the history of Misamis Occidental. This unprecedented success would not have been possible without the unwavering support of the Misamisnons. Not a single seat was lost. This outcome reflects the confidence and trust the people have placed in our leadership,” he said.
He also credited the orderly conduct of the elections to the maturity and discipline of the Misamisnons.
“The peaceful process is a testament to the growth and responsibility shown by our people during this election. I am deeply grateful to our leaders—from the provincial level to the barangays, our soldiers, service providers, our hardworking core team, and everyone who played a part in this success,” he added.
Vice Governor Rowena Gutierrez was re-elected with 285,168 votes, defeating Ruel Yap (38,505). In the 1st District, Representative Jason Almonte was re-elected with 122,329 votes, ahead of Roy Yap (28,542).
The Provincial Board of Canvassers also proclaimed the winners for the two district board member seats. In the 1st District, re-elected members include Alex Guantero (112,843 votes), Winston Catane (111,501), Tata Paylaga-Lim (109,492), Donna Iyog (107,074), and Agnes Villanueva (105,902). In the 2nd District, the winning candidates are Eduardo Cebedo (157,546), Calven Tito Decina (159,788), Henjie Estaño (156,061), Emie Lahaylahay (155,652), and Jerry Cuizon (155,527).
