Occidental Mindoro opens Arawatan Agritourism trade fair

SAN JOSE, Occidental Mindoro (PIA) — The Arawatan Agritourism trade fair opens today, November 9, featuring agricultural products and processed food as one of the activities for the celebration of the Arawatan Festival in the province.

More than 10 booths comprising the Municipal Local Government Units (MLGUs), National Government Agencies (NGAs), and Small and Medium-scale Enterprises (SMEs) are set up in the Capitol Evacuation Center in the municipality of Mamburao for the Agritrade fair.

Engr. Alrizza Zubiri of the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, explained that the activity aims to feature the rich agriculture of the province and tap the potential of agritourism, “Nandoon makikita ang iba’t ibang produkto ng ating mga magsasaka, mangingisda, at ating mga processor…pati produkto ng mga nasa Indigenous People (IP) community, mayroon din sa trade fair.”

Fresh produce, such as onions, vegetables, and other high-value crops can be purchased at the trade fair. Poultry, fish, and other meat products are also available. Additionally, processed goods such as wine, pastillas, and other pasalubong items by SMEs are featured in the trade fair.

The Agritrade fair is open from 9:30 AM to 9:30 PM until November 15. Customers who will purchase items amounting to P200 or higher will receive a raffle coupon and a chance to receive selected items from the trade fair.

At the end of the activity, an awarding ceremony for the best booth among the MLGUs will be held.

The Arawatan Festival commemorates the 73rd founding anniversary of Occidental Mindoro. This year’s festival activities started on October 31 to November 15, with the theme: Isang pagdiriwang ng katatagan, pagbangon at pagpupunyagi sa mga hamon ng panahon. (DSG/PIA MIMAROPA – Occidental Mindoro)
