BAGUIO CITY (PIA) – The Office of Civil Defense Cordillera Regional Office (OCD-CAR) affirms a dynamic, efficient and effective Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, in terms of its goal of building a safer, resilient and climate-adaptive communities in Cordillera.
OCD-CAR Regional Director and Cordillera RDRRMC Chairperson Albert Mogol during the August 20 Bagong Pilipinas Kapihan media forum reported that the CRDRRMC has just updated its Regional DRRM Plan. It also has a Regional Disaster Response Plan (RDRP), each for earthquake, hydro-meteorological hazards, consequence management for human induced hazards and tourism – related incidents, fire hazards especially on forest fire, and for pandemic and other emerging/re-emerging infectious diseases.
“RDRP is a hazard-specific operational plan of the CRDRRMC that describes the leadership, coordination, interoperability, activities and protocols required to respond effectively and efficiently to save lives and set the conditions for sustainable response operations,” Mogol explained.
Mogol gave credit to the CRDRRMC’s shared values and dynamic teamwork in OCD-CAR’s bagging its second Best Regional Office Award during the OCD’s 70th anniversary celebration last August 16.
“I am humbled to share with all of you that OCD-CAR, for the second time, is again adjudged as the Best Regional Office of OCD this year during our 70th anniversary program last week.”
This award reflects our commitment to serve with excellence, passion, and integrity, and our shared values and teamwork in the regional DRRM Council and local DRRM councils of Cordilllera. Para sa ating lahat po ito, patunay na dito sa Cordillera ibang-iba ang ating sistema. Nararapat lamang na kilalanin din namin kayong lahat bilang aming mga kasamahan sa larangan ng DRRM sa ating rehiyon,” Mogol stressed.
He reiterated his appeal for a continuing partnership among the CRDRRMC member agencies and all the local DRRM councils in the region in moving forward a disaster resilient Cordillera.
“Let us be guided by our ‘Binnadang” principle and adherence to the goal of disaster resiliency. Together we can build a stronger, safer, more adaptive and resilient Cordillera that is empowered to face the challenges of the emerging realities and disaster events,” Mogol said.
The OCD-CAR along with the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office-CAR, joined other Department of National Defense attached offices nationwide, in the simultaneous Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas to report their accomplishments and priority thrust under the governance of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. (CCD, PIA-CAR)
