QUEZON CITY (PIA) — The Presidential Communications Office (PCO), in collaboration with the Philippine Information Agency (PIA), is set to host the next installment of the nationwide Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas on Tuesday, August 20, 2024.
This week’s session will feature key presentations from the Department of National Defense, represented by the Office of Civil Defense – National Capital Region (OCD-NCR), and the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO).
The OCD-NCR, led by Regional Director George F. Keyser, will showcase its significant milestones, programs, and future plans in disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM). Keyser will highlight the importance of the Magna Carta for DRRM Workers, the establishment of the Civil Defense Training Institute (CDTI), and the ongoing efforts to enhance disaster preparedness in the National Capital Region.
Additionally, OCD-NCR will present updates on flagship programs such as the Incident Command System (ICS), Contingency Planning, and the Post-Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA).
On the other hand, Atty. Jose Victor J. Badiola, Assistant Chief of the PVAO Claims Division, will also present their agency’s achievements and future goals. Badiola will discuss PVAO’s commitment to providing comprehensive welfare and benefits to Filipino veterans and their families.
His presentation will cover significant programs, including veterans’ pensions, hospitalization and medical care, educational assistance, and memorial preservation initiatives. PVAO will also share recent accomplishments, such as the passing of key legislation for disability pensions and the expansion of veterans’ wards across the country.
The Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas is a weekly forum conducted simultaneously nationwide, designed to inform and engage the public on government initiatives and programs.
