ODIONGAN, Romblon (PIA) — The town of Odiongan has applied to become one of the pilot municipalities in MIMAROPA region to use the Electronic Local Government Unit (eLGU) app, which integrates services from various public sectors.
The eLGU app is part of the government’s eGov PH Super App, the world’s first government super app that combines national and local government services.
It was developed by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) to streamline public service delivery and improve efficiency across LGUs.
Last week, DICT conducted a five-day eLGU System Deployment in Odiongan, where personnel from DICT MIMAROPA and its central office worked together to train Odiongan LGU workers on the new system.
The training covered various aspects of the eLGU system, ensuring that local government staff are well-prepared for its implementation.
Odiongan municipal government spokesperson Kim Faderon, who confirmed the news on Thursday, September 19, explained that while the digitalization of Odiongan LGU services has not yet been launched, the town is awaiting approval of its application.
He said that once approved, the eLGU app will allow residents to process transactions online with the Treasurer’s Office, Civil Registry, Business Permit and Licensing Office, and the Public Information Office via the eGov PH Super App.
Also, once the application is approved, Odiongan aims to streamline government processes, making transactions faster and more accessible to its residents.
The app will also provide real-time updates on the status of applications, allowing for greater transparency and efficiency.
Faderon said that the LGU is hopeful that the system will be up and running by early next month. (PJF/PIA MIMAROPA-Romblon)
