OFWs urged to use DMW Mobile App in getting OFW Pass

CALAMBA CITY, Laguna (PIA) – The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) in Calabarzon is encouraging overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to use the DMW Mobile App to obtain the OFW Pass and other overseas labor documents.

In a recent episode of Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas, Karen Quilao, Regional Director of DMW IV-A, explained that the mobile application, launched in July 2023, aims to streamline the process for obtaining labor and overseas documents, easing the burden on OFWs.

Through the mobile application, OFWs can secure their OFW Information Sheet and generate their OFW Pass free of charge. This digital pass serves as an alternative to the traditional Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC).

Due to some recent system outages, the Migrant Workers department assures OFWs that efforts are underway to enhance the mobile app and improve its essential services, including the OFW Pass.

“Currently, we are working on enhancing our mobile application for the OFW Pass, as it significantly helps our citizens avoid the need to visit the office each time they need to secure their OEC,” Quilao said.

She added, “We are committed to ongoing improvements with the mobile app because it has proven beneficial. If you encounter any issues accessing the app, we have a hotline available for assistance with your OFW Pass.”

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has emphasized that the launch of the DMW Mobile App marks a significant milestone in the administration’s commitment to serving OFWs. This initiative supports the broader goal of government digitalization, aiming for greater efficiency, collaboration, and accessibility.

The DMW Mobile App is currently in a pilot test phase in 10 countries and is part of an effort to streamline processes for OFWs, making it easier for permit holders to secure their documents before departing from the country.

Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas is a weekly media forum program of the Philippine Information Agency, in partnership with the Presidential Communications Office, which highlights the programs, projects, and policies of the national government under the Bagong Pilipinas governance agenda of President Ferdinand R.
