Ombudsman opens assistance center in Calbayog City

CALBAYOG CITY (PIA) — The Office of the Ombudsman has recently established an Ombudsman Assistance Center (OAC) inside the Calbayog City Police Station.

The center is designed to enhance accessibility to the Ombudsman’s services, bringing them closer to Samar residents and nearby towns.

The Ombudsman Assistance Center in Calbayog provides services like receiving complaints and grievances, submitting Statements of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN), and processing OMB e-clearances.

Lawyer Janice G. Gabrito, acting director of Visayas Field Office 8, clarified that any complaints, grievances, and applications submitted will still be forwarded to the regional office in Tacloban City. The documents will then be returned through a courier.

She added that the entire process at the center will take three to five days, while the e-clearance system can process requests within the same day.

They also accept cashless payment transactions and have streamlined the processing of documents to serve their clients better.

On behalf of our Ombudsman Justice Samuel Martires and our Deputy Ombudsman for the Visayas Atty. Dante Vargas, we’re inviting the Calbayog City, Samar, or Leyte residents. We have the Ombudsman Assistance Center in Calbayog City, which is now open. If you want to file complaints, submit your SALNs, or apply for Ombudsman clearance, you can visit our office,” said Atty. Janice G. Gabrito, acting director of the Office of the Ombudsman Visayas Field Office 8.

The Ombudsman Assistance Center in Calbayog is the sixth center established in the country, joining other locations in Pasay City, Roxas City, Zamboanga City, Tuguegarao City, and Patikul, Sulu. In addition to these centers, the Office of the Ombudsman operates offices in Davao City, Cebu City, Iloilo City, Cagayan De Oro, and Tacloban.

The center will start accepting clients on March 19, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday. (AAC, PIA Samar)
