OneOksi trade, tourism expo feature local products

SAN JOSE, Occidental Mindoro (PIA) — Locally-made products crafted by members of the One Mindoro Marketing Association (OMMA), an organization of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the province, are the main attraction at the ongoing OneOksi Trade and Tourism Expo 2024, held at the Municipal Compound of San Jose.

OMMA president Ernan Declito said the OneOksi Trade and Tourism Expo serves as a platform to showcase and sell products made by local entrepreneurs.

It also provides valuable opportunities for MSMEs to exchange knowledge, form partnerships with fellow local manufacturers, and network with larger retailers and other industry partners.

Among the products featured at the trade and tourism expo are bottled yellowfin tuna from Sablayan town, organic products such as rice, fertilizer, and garden soil from Magsaysay; and popular items from Rich Blitz, including pastillas and cheesy cake.

Also, visitors can find native bags, accessories, fruit wines, taro, cassava, banana chips, and many others.

During the opening program of the expo, Declito referenced data from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), highlighting the vital role that small businesses play in the country’s economy.

He pointed out that according to the PSA, 99.5 percent of businesses in the Philippines contributed 63 percent of the employment rate and 40 percent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

Meanwhile, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Provincial Director Noel Flores assured continued support to OMMA.

He said that OMMA members are prioritized for participation in product development and enhancement programs and training opportunities provided to MSMEs.

The public can purchase products from the OneOksi Trade and Tourism Expo until December 27. (VND/PIA MIMAROPA – Occidental Mindoro)
