MANILA, (PIA) — The first day of classes on Tuesday, August 29, in all public schools nationwide was generally peaceful, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP).
PNP Chief General Benjamin Acorda Jr. said they have not received any report of trouble or untoward incident in relation to the school opening.
It can be recalled that up to 32,706 police officers were deployed to ensure security in schools.
Likewise, around 6,159 Police Assistance Desks were also set up in strategic areas in the country ready to respond to the needs of students, parents, and teachers in the event of an emergency.
The PNP ranks are now on alert to prevent crimes that may be committed by exploiters.
Following this, Acorda encouraged the public to contact the authorities and report suspicious activities.
Through this, the PNP will be able to respond immediately and ensure the safety of students, teachers and school personnel.
The PNP will further intensify police visibility that is one of the effective ways to safeguard students and teachers from untoward incidents and crimes. (PIA-NCR)
